This is the script for my video, “There is a problem with the Hive...” Uploaded Dec 10, 2023
Please forgive any spelling or grammatical mistakes that may occur in this script as I originally wrote this for my own eyes and did a minimal amount of spelling and grammatical correction.
The script may not be completely accurate to what I say in the video as I often improvise as i’m reading the script in the recording stages of video production.

Ever since the hive came to the Minecraft’s servers list on October 15th, 2018, it has been one the most successful servers to come to Minecraft. With a bursting community of over tens of thousands of players, it seems like the hive will remain one of the most popular servers to ever come to Minecraft. This is great! But what most people don't know is that there are many issues with the server that make it unsafe, scammy, and even dangerous.
Well what am i talking about?
Im talking about hive buid battle or (just build), the main issue with the hive as a server.
From an outside perspective “just build” may seem like an innocent take on build battle where players can vote on a topic and build said topic with lots of options and room for creativity, which explains why it is consistently the most popular game on the server. What could possibly be wrong with such an innocent game?
Well, I'm going to investigate what exactly is wrong with “just build” and how these issues can be fixed.
Well, without further ado,
Let's get into it
Game one:
The topic was… ice cream…. Okay…
Things were all going well with voting until…

here’s our first problem, I found these EVERYWHERE- you will soon see that I won't be able to go a single game without running into… uh… “art” It seems like hive build battle has just become a place for trolls, I remember a time when you could peacefully build without being interrupted by trolls, it. What happened?
Well, I couldn't find a direct source as to why the hives moderation has gotten so… questionable but I did find three possible culprits,
#1, as the hive became a more popular server with more and more players, I think the Hives moderation team wasn't able to keep up with the huge influx of players when they switched over to being on bedrocks front page, it’s hard to keep track of tens of thousands of players with only a couple hundred active moderators that are probably moderating other games like skyward or treasure wars.
#2 One thing I noticed from “research” is that ban times on the hive for building structures such as this can be as low as just a warning followed by just a few hour-long bans upon repeat offenses, I don't know If you can even get permabanned from the hive at all!
I can see why the hive would be reluctant to ban players for long periods of time.
But still- with such short ban times, trolls could just circulate burner accounts much easier than other servers like Cube Craft which can give you bans of upwards of three days from just using an auto-clicker, again… I got this information from “research”
Game Two:
The topic was computer, okay… I can work with this…
Finally, it's just hard to moderate games like Build Battle because most builds could be left up to interpretation. Even when an inappropriate build is reported, it still has to be manually reviewed by the hives moderation team which can take a lot of time.
I can see why this issue has been on the hive since the time when it was added to the bedrock editions server list, but the frequency of it is kinda ridiculous.

I really think that this issue could easily be fixed by just introducing a vote-ban system to build battle servers.
But again, this could also easily be abused by trolls by just vote-banning random people.
The simplest solution to this is just probably getting more moderators but would cost the hive a lot of money because apparently, they pay their mods, they don't really have to, just do what Reddit does- hire a bunch of random people and pay them with the power trip and dopamine rush you get from having power over random people.
Game four:
Giraffe…
Okay, this is getting ridiculous... Just pick broad topics like fall or animal, who knows how to build a giraffe, this is the best I could do… what is this???
It was very clear that people also had the same problem,

Just for the record, this guy didnt end up getting banned,
6-year-olds play this game hive, step up your game!

After 6 games of hive build battle, i have concluded three things,
One: Who would spend their time playing this- filming this video was boring as hell
Two: The hive has a huge problem with trolls- It seems like I cant even play one game without getting trolled upon.

I don't know man, do whatever you want… This game is clearly very well put together although it has many issues and the best way to not get trolled is to:
